The Roman Catholic Church does not submit to the supreme authority of Scripture in matters of faith and practice. Yet, we must inform Catholics there is no higher authority than our almighty God and Creator, who reveals objective truth through His inspired, inerrant Word. Throughout Scripture we see people falling into serious error and peril when they reject or dismiss God’s Word as their supreme authority. The Catholic Church recognizes the Bible as a sacred book, but not as the sole and final authority for truth. Regardless, there is no equal to the Bible, for it is the most authoritative and powerful book ever written.
