Stoval Weems was recently in the news for alleged embezzlement. He has spent the last several years telling his followers about his "Jesus encounter", in which he claims to have interacted personally with the risen Christ. Weems then used this encounter narrative to boost his spiritual authority over his megachurch...no questions asked of the man of God who has closed door meetings with Jesus. God has now pulled back the curtain so people can see the lie and flee. Chris Rosebrough lays out the lesson for the Evangelical church that must be learned from this.
