Numerous leaders within the NAR have laid claim to having personal encounters with Jesus Christ, and some of these leaders have correlated this to the personal calling as a modern-day Apostle. One individual in particular has stated in multiple interviews that he encountered Jesus while in prison, receiving salvation and an apostolic calling upon his life.
