hi i recently moved and looking for a new church. agtv is helping me reevaluate my beliefs. thank you. but my question is what denomination is good at the biblical gospel and keeping to what the Word says? i know this is a loaded question but i want to go to a church that is based on Jesus/God and His Word. not be taught a life skill and inject the Word into wanting a better life. any ideas/thoughts? thanks.
if it were me, and feel free to disregard this advice, I'd start by getting in touch with someone in church leadership and asking something to the effect of "I prefer a reformed theology in my church, would it be fair to say this church shares my interest?"
It's non-threatening, but it clearly communicates a desire for a biblically sound church that has a high view of God and His word.
You can start at local baptist, Presbyterian, and even some non-denominational churches with this question, and the honest ones shouldn't hesitate to answer with an affirmative lean towards "reformed theology"
Founders Ministries has a church finder, and a church that adheres to one of the Reformed confessions is a good place to start. Going to a church's website and seeing what they believe to narrow down your search, and then listening to some of their sermons online can be a time saver.
It's a tough question because what may seem like a sound church to me, may seem unsound to another. This may require you to do some research. Nearly every church has a website these days. On these websites, they will have an About Page and a Mission Statement Page. Check with what those pages say and then go to scripture to see if their beliefs and teachings add up. That's probably one of the best ways. May God be with you in your search!
